My all time hero (jointly shared with Capt Frank Furillo) was Major Vladimir Peniakoff.  The difference was Peniakoff and PPA were real and got to live that life!

I would have loved to have been in the desert with them and even more so, when they went behind enemy lines driving up the spine of Italy
